AN: This was like pulling teeth, but it has finally begun. The sequel to Ceteris Paribus is finally here.

Summary: Would you turn your back on everything that you believed in to protect the soul of one man? One action tips the balance of this eternal war and neither side is ready for a battle that they never foresaw. If this world is to end, one this is certain. It will end stained in the blood of the righteous and the wicked.

Chapter One: Wish you were Here

It was no secret that Uriel held Michael's heart.

She knew that she could do no wrong in his eyes and he knew that she would one day break his heart.

Surprisingly, it was not when she chose that boy over the word of God, but when Michael stood over the body of a brother that had died by her hand.

No one dared to speak to him.

Even Gabriel kept his distance.

“This is most distressing,” Raphael quietly said.

The Garden was always filled with sounds of laughter but it was now devoid of any kind of noise.

Michael sat under the Tree of Life with his head bowed and the weight of his duty on his shoulders.

There was only one thing that he could do.

Zerachiel, Gabriel, and Raphael watched him from afar because his anger was legendary.

“Is it the blood?”

Zerachiel shook his head and Gabriel turned to him in disbelief.

“You mean to tell me that Uriel chose to kill,” he asked with narrowed eyes.

“This is not the first time,” Zerachiel wearily said. “Michael knew, he just didn’t… He just didn’t tell us.”

“I refuse to be surprised by his actions,” Raphael sighed. “He has not failed her or any of us and he should realize that..”

“You know as well as the rest of us that he will only blame himself! What are we to do when she choose to hurt him like this,” Gabriel snapped. "She chose to Fall."

On earth, the sound heard would be described as lightening ripping the sky in half as the universe crashed into the sea.

“Hold your tongue if you ever again feel the need to spout such nonsense,” Raphael calmly said despite the unbridled rage in his eyes. “I will not tolerate anyone condemning Uriel when this is something that we began.”

“Raphael-”

“I can no longer be silent, Zerachiel. We did this. Do you understand that,” he asked as he looked at his brothers. “Not directly, but we allowed this to happen,” Raphael said. “This is upon us all and now we will reap what we sow. This is only the beginning,” the Archangel unhappily sighed. “I have been dreaming and I am afraid.”

They could only watch in silence as Raphael trembled.

“This world will burn and the fires will rise to consume us all and I am afraid,” he whispered.

--------

Ramiel did not like Earth.

It was filthy and he felt that every time he touched something, he was stained.

Humans always looked at his gloved hands in curiosity but he did not care.

Raguel, on the other hand, loved Earth.

The sounds, the smells, the rude people.

He loved the sunshine, he loved the rain, he loved the uncertainty and the rush of human life.

Raguel’s vessel a dark eyed young woman with hair the color of burning coal, a mouth that was made to smile, what human called a “button nose” and pale, creamy skin.

“She your girl?”

Ramiel nodded.

Any other explanation would be unnecessary.

“Is Elle in trouble?”

What an odd moniker for such a proud creature.

“We just want to find her.”

The sound of his own voice irritated him.

The child he was speaking to twisted her hands together in what could possibly concern.

She looked as if she should be playing with dolls, but her eyes were too old and far too empty to belong to a child.

“Elle always looked out for us,” she quietly said. “We know what we are and we know what we do for a living, but she was always nice to us, ya know?”

Ramiel nodded.

For all her venomous words and effortless sneers, Uriel may have actually be the most gentle being among them.

“When you find her, tell her not to scare us like that.”

How she ever managed to endear herself to whores would be a mystery.

“She was here,” Raguel said as they stepped into a cold, starless night. “They speak very well of her.”

Ramiel nodded.

“Uriel never fails to be surprising,” he muttered.

He loved his sister, really and truly, he just wished that she would stop making herself such an enigma.

“We’ve known her since the beginning of all thing and yet…”

“Yet you feel as if you now know nothing about her,” Ramiel finished.

Raguel nodded and her nose scrunched in what could possibly be an adorable manner.

“It’s kind of annoying,” she chuckled.

Ramiel nodded.

Regardless of where Uriel hid, they would find her.

They always did.

--------

The first thing she did was cut her hair.

She couldn’t afford to be conspicuous.

It would be like spotting a peacock among pigeons.

Ruby was making more hex bags and Uriel was in the bathroom.

She felt nothing as colored hair fell to the floor or into the sink.

She did not take pride in her hair, the soul that dwelled in this body did.

Unlike her brothers, Uriel did not wish to have her vessel made for her.

“If I am to walk among them, I will find at least one that is worthy to house me.”

The woman was a warrior in her own right and she had seen many battles.

Old wounds faded into scars and Uriel kept this body as it was.

These scars would tell the story of this life and that was not something that she would carelessly destroy.

“Angel?”

Uriel turned to face Ruby and was subject to a scrutinizing once over.

“You look a bit butch,” she said without hesitation.

She raised an eyebrow and the demon shifted.

“I’m not worried about looking like your bitch,” Ruby said as she leaned against the doorway, “you just look ready to start something.”

The motel was so unsatisfactory that even roaches refused to reside in its walls, but no one would come looking for either of them here.

Uriel ran a hand down her head then smirked.

“I’m always ready to start something.”

There was so much to do and her only fear was that she would fail.

--------

In the next three months, Chuck learned more about Uriel than he had about some people in three years.

She was a social drinker and smoked when she was pissed.

She missed Heaven but most of all, Castiel and her cherubs.

Chuck would see flashes of her relaxed and at peace as she sat under a beautiful tree. Castiel would sit be sitting beside her and they would watch the cherubs play something that looked a lot like freeze tag.

And Sam?

Well, Chuck could honestly say that there was a man that was having very good dreams.

Last but not least, Uriel was also the reason why bills stopped being mailed to his house.

“…Okay, what?”

“Your secretary informed us of your work and a man as busy as you should never be troubled with such mundane thing like bills, Mr. Shirley. The city is proud to cover anything your home requires!”

“…My secretary,” Chuck numbly asked.

“Ms. Wesson made it very clear that you should not be disturbed, sir.”

The thought of ever actually meeting her may have made him a little twitchy, hell, twitchier than usual, but so far Uriel was kind of awesome.

--------

He wanted to sleep.

Each second of eternity felt like a grain of sand settling at his feet and he would soon be swallowed up by time.

Michael knew that he would have no peace until she was found, but the idea of closing his eyes and having life go silent was a tempting one.

Ramiel and Raguel were on the ground while the other kept their eyes and ear opens.

Uriel usually left her duties without notifying anyone so no one asked any questions.

Her cherubs were silent and Castiel was slowly shifting into a grim, intense shade of himself.

He immersed himself in battle with a ruthlessness that Michael had not seen since the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Arakiel did what she could to comfort them but it was all to no avail.

A small mercy was that Zachariah made himself very scarce.

He heard Raphael strike Gabriel, Heaven shook with the force of his blow, but he couldn’t find it within himself to care.

The end of days was approaching and an Archangel had gone rogue.

The only thing Michael knew for sure was that the worst was yet to come.
